Mark Roman | May 3, 2019 | Bicycle Accidents
Our attorneys at Roman Austin Personal Injury Lawyers are avid cyclists and are excited to celebrate the upcoming event in May for National Bike Month. Across the nation, cyclists and non-cyclists alike join together to celebrate a variety of biking events, including the popular Bike to Work Day. In 2019, as Bike to Work Week will take place the week of May 13-19, and Bike to Work Day will fall on Friday, May 17. If you wish to participate along with our team and countless commuters across the country, we encourage you to pick up your bicycle and ride to work!
As our society begins to shift their focus more towards health and wellness, more and more people are choosing to use their bikes to commute to work. In fact, data suggests that between 2000 and 2013, the number of bike commuters within the United States grew by more than 62%. Seeing as 40% of all trips in the U.S. are less than 2 miles, this seems to be a doable feat for most workers, even if they aren’t practiced cyclists.
Even if you do not use your bike to commute on a regular basis, participation in this upcoming event can be a great way to try something new! Through the various Bike to Work Week events that take place in main cities throughout the country, more and more commuters have made the switch and now use their bicycles to get to work each morning. Biking to work doesn’t only improve your health, it also saves the environment and helps cut down on roadway traffic. According to The League of American Bicyclists, many first-time commuters who decide to participate in Bike to Work Day end up becoming regular bike commuters.
