Some of our South Nebraska personal injury law firm’s practice areas include:
The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) reported 28,022 motor vehicle accidents in Hillsborough County in 2021. At least 12,165 people were injured, and another 255 people were killed in those car crashes.

Pedestrian and Bicycle Accidents
Every year, pedestrian and bicycle accident victims sustain severe, life-altering injuries in Tampa.
Our lawyers often represent clients who have sustained:
- Traumatic brain injuries
- Broken bones
- Spinal cord damage
- Crushing injuries
- Internal organ damage
- Wrongful death
Because bicyclists and pedestrians don’t have much protection in crashes, they often sustain catastrophic injuries and permanent damage.
Like much of Florida, South Nebraska is experiencing a building boom. This new construction is vital to our neighborhood’s growth. On the other hand, construction is a dangerous industry – and construction site accidents are common.
Construction workers are often injured in accidents involving:
- Scaffolding falls
- Slip and fall accidents
- Defective work equipment and tools
- Fires and explosions
- Failure to follow state and OSHA safety regulations
- Negligent hiring practices
If you were injured on the job, you may be entitled to file a personal injury lawsuit for damages in addition to your workers’ compensation benefits.
Slip and Fall Accidents
The CDC estimates that about 800,000 people are hospitalized every year for slip and fall injuries. About 3 million older Americans seek emergency room care for fall-related injuries each year.
While we don’t have to deal with snow and ice here in Tampa, falls are still a serious problem. They often happen because a property owner was negligent. If you slipped and fell on someone else’s property, call our lawyers in Tampa to learn more about your right to compensation today.
Proving Liability in a South Nebraska Personal Injury Case
Most accidents and injuries happen because someone was negligent. Negligence is a legal term. Someone is negligent when they fail to exercise reasonable caution under the circumstances.
To prove negligence, your lawyer must establish:
- A legal duty of care
- A breach of duty occurred
- The breach caused your accident
- You sustained damages
It’s also possible that strict liability laws could apply in your case. For example, in a product liability case, the manufacturer can be held strictly liable for damages. Dog owners can also be held strictly liable, so you don’t always have to prove negligence after a dog bite.
Statute of Limitations in Florida Personal Injury Cases
In most personal injury cases, Florida law gives you two years to file a personal injury lawsuit. This time limit is called the statute of limitations.
Historically, you had four years to file a personal injury lawsuit in Florida, but the law changed on March 24, 2023. If your South Nebraska accident happened after that time, you must file your lawsuit within two years.
Once the statute of limitations expires, you’ll lose your right to sue negligent parties for damages.
